Since decorative fountains operate similar to cooling towers (as far as aerosolizing and atomizing of water droplets which can maintain harmful bacteria) in and around the fountain. We are reasonably certain that this will be a expansion area of the current law. Section 7.2 of ASHRAE 188 makes a clear reference to decorative fountains. We believe NYC can require this without major modification to the current law, and may not even ask for public opinion to do so. We could also for see a day where these fountains will eventually be sealed or taken out of use.
Improperly treated water features can be unsightly and dangerous and can breed many harmful bacteria, fungi, and disease. In order to be clear, there is no current law directly related to these systems.
